Spiritual Democrats are very much like their carnal counterparts.
What is a “spiritual Democrat?”
My pastor coined the term and I’m running with it.
Spiritual Democrats are not Democrats in a “political” sense, but in a “spiritual” sense. They tend to be disgruntled church members, false prophets, infiltrators or Internet trolls who hate the work of the Lord and want to discourage people from going to church.
They may not believe in left-wing dogma, but they borrow from the liberal ethos and share many of the same attributes.
Spiritual Democrats:
- Hypocritically Accuse Others of Not Being Loving Enough
Just as political Democrats obsessively accuse their opponents of being “hateful” and “bigoted” while trumpeting their own so-called “tolerance” and “inclusion,” the spiritual Democrat accuses the New IFB of lacking a “sweet spirit” in order to put themselves on a moral pedestal. Of course, they don’t actually believe their own rhetoric since they yoke up with slanderers and YouTube trolls who compulsively hate everyone associated with Pastor Anderson.
Like political Democrats, spiritual Democrats hold themselves to a separate standard than everyone else. They smear the New IFB as “hateful” while themselves spending every day of their lives hating pastors and church members. They’re quick to lecture someone for having a “bad spirit” while they endorse enemies of the Lord who steal God’s money and want soul winning churches to shut down.
Essentially, the “you’re not loving enough” crowd (or “sweet spiriters”) utilize platitudes to brand themselves as “loving” and “graceful” while showing no love or grace to their opposition. Much like the political left, they are enormous hypocrites.
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
Matthew 23:4
- Flip Flop
Just as political Democrats flip flop on policy to advance their agenda, the spiritual Democrat will go from attacking God’s enemies to linking up with them in a short period of time.
One could argue the spiritual Democrat never actually “flip flopped” on anything, but simply revealed his/her true colors. Either way, they go from flattering New IFB personalities to openly hating them in a matter of months (sometimes days). It can be quite jarring for someone unfamiliar with how these people operate.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

- Form Unholy Alliances
Just as political Democrats will ally with radical Islamists in their shared hatred for Christianity, spiritual Democrats will ally with and/or speak favorably toward damnable heretics in their shared hatred for New IFB churches.
Spiritual Democrats are unconcerned with doctrinal integrity and will fellowship with anyone if they agree on despising certain pastors and church members. They also allow the most wicked heretics and false prophets to warp their mind about good men. Often, spiritual Democrats will unify with the same people they opposed two weeks ago because, like political Democrats, everything that comes out of their mouth is unreliable at best.
And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

- Deny Reality
Just as political Democrats claim a man can be a woman, the spiritual Democrat will brazenly deny reality to promote their narrative. It doesn’t matter what evidence they see or how thoroughly you debunk their false accusations, the spiritual Democrat will never repent and will never admit fault. Conversely, they will always choose to deny reality rather than accept information that conflicts with their presuppositions.
Spiritual Democrats are simply unaffected by truth. You can irrevocably destroy their false doctrine or railing accusation using scores of scripture and they’ll simply ignore it all and continue to regurgitate memorized talking points from troll videos.
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
Psalm 119:30
- Publish Lies and Smears
Just as political Democrats use the state-run media to publish lies and smears about their opponents, the spiritual Democrat uses YouTube for outrageous false accusations against pastors and church members they hate.
Spiritual Democrats will use their (small) platforms to lambaste good churches with an assortment of malicious lies intended to assassinate the character of their enemy. For them, no false accusation is off the table in their quest to besmirch soul winning churches.
But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.
1 Samuel 25:14
Conclusion:
Of the enemies Satan uses to afflict God’s people, spiritual Democrats are particularly frustrating to deal with. They are unreasonable, hypocritical and stubborn. Much like their political counterparts, they lie and obfuscate without hesitation to teach false doctrine and misrepresent what the Bible says.
Stay away from them.
